We are "Food Styl".

We are now officially known as "Food Styl".
www.FoodStyl.com
We previously offered catering for large events in the Tampa Bay, Florida area and have decided to move our focus away from catering all together and now only work with food for Food Styling - Foods for Television, Photography and Film.

Here's a few shots that I have that are by no means professionally taken, but rather just shot quick in the moment so as to not stray from my tasks of creating more plates:

This Farfalle / Bowtie pasta was styled as a "beauty" plate for a ceramic core saute pan.

The producer for this shot provided this picturesque plate for a Cream of Mushroom Soup presentation.

 I loved this photo set!

Adding a few last touches to a Seafood Rice dish.

The backdrops of herbs really caught my eye. The steam is an actual element of this picture.

Food styling for an infomercial

www.FoodStyl.com
What is interesting about food styling for an infomercial, as compared to live television food styling, is that the product is able to be captured utilizing it's complete spectrum of qualities that may be missed while being demonstrated on live television. I worked at HSN for several years in their culinary department for on-air cooking items, so the missed opportunity for a complete demonstration I learned first hand. Sometimes this was due to time constraints or multiple items being promoted simultaneously.

An infomercial is also known as Direct Response Television, or DRTV for short, which includes any television advertising that asks consumers to respond directly to the company, per Wikipedia's definition. This enables the consumer to deal directly with the marketing team's promoter or may be directly with the manufacturer.

The Better Beater really is a cool kitchen gadget that I had the opportunity to work behind the scenes on and it has a great website demonstrating it's ability's perfectly.  Better Beater

I don't believe there is a simpler, better way to froth milk for cappuccino's!

Food Styling for Back Drop Props

Food Styling isn't always the "end dish" as it also may include the set back drops as it did for this shoot for a hand slicer.

Food Styling for Kitchen Gadget Television Commercial

My name is Katryn "Kat" Barrott. I offer Food Styling for the Tampa Bay area of Florida - and other regions per request.
www.FoodStyl.com

On this product demonstration the client requested a colorful montage of fresh produce as a backdrop for filming a Television Commercial for a new Kitchen Gadget.

We used our Acrylic Risers along with clear glass vessels to enhance the visual backdrop.

I began building the set montage while Mary Jo, my Food Styling Assistant, managed the foods for the TV shoot on set.

The host utilized the gadget for demo takes with cucumbers, red onions, potatoes & more.

For the center of this display, I used whole Russet potatoes and Red Bliss potatoes under the riser with prepped potatoes for French Fries and surrounded the set with visuals of all prepped foods.

The "Speed Rack" (a large cart used to move commercial sized sheet pans) is directly behind this kitchen set. This is what we use to move foods and products from the prep area to the studio.

The Studio that this product was filmed at, has a kitchen prep area available for use, including a stove top and oven. Here I have two turkeys finishing up for a Turkey Dinner Demo.

Putting on finishing garnishes. This Family style landing plate is shown with a fresh Mixed Vegetable Medley, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy.
